My Heel Shield Story

My Mother was part of the reason I created the heel shield shoe protector for drivers. My mother was about 5’4″ tall and wore a 4 or 5 inch heel every day.  I remember my mother complaining about ruining all of her shoes while driving, long before I started driving.

I had no idea what she was talking about until I bought my first pair of designer shoes.  On the first wearing when I arrived at my destination, I was horrified looking down after someone asked – “What is that on the back of your shoe?”

The smooth pastel finish of my new designer shoes had been replaced by a big black bumpy mark.  At first I didn’t understand what had happened.

Then it dawned on me what my Mom had been complaining about all of those many years ago.  I had gotten the black scuff mark from driving.

At that time I did not believe the shoes were beyond repair – ruined.  I took them to the best cobbler.  They told me immediately that the shoe would never look the same.  Even dying would not bring the shoe back to life.

The cobbler was right.  After dying, the shoes had this really weird off-color bumpy spot that you could still see a mile away.

Heel Shields were the brain child of this incident.  My goal with creating the heel shield was to produce a product that would easily go on the shoe without a strap around the ankle and would work for all of my shoe types: heels, flats, boots, cowboy boots and sling backs. Otherwise I knew that I would not consistently use it.  Happily the end product will also work for men’s dress shoes and boots.

Thanks for reading my story, now head on over to our product page (click the link below) and get some heel shields of your very own.  I use a different heel shield for my polished shoes than I use for my pastel shoes.  The polish could transfer and stain my other shoes.  I also use a fully-covered heel shield for my suede shoes.  And the fully covered heel shield works the best on my shoe boots.
